St John Ambulance Association is an International Humanitarian Organisation, working for the purpose of mankind in the World. At present the international head quarter of St. John Ambulance Association is situated at London.
ST. JOHN AMBULANCE IN INDIA
In India, St. John Ambulance Association was established in 1912. Its Emblems are registered under the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper use) Act XII of 1950 and this organization is also known vide St. John Ambulance (India) transfer of fund Act, 1956. (Act 21 of 1956) The St. John Ambulance and Nursing wing of Indian Red Cross Society under Indian Red Cross Society Act XV of 1920.
ST. JOHN AMBULANCE IN GUJARAT:-
In Gujarat, St. John Ambulance Association was established around 1960 and held its first meeting of Executive Committee on 22 nd September, 1962. It is working as a separate entity with its own separate Constitution and provides its humanitarian services through 27 centres in all over Gujarat in the welfare of the mankind with over 90 qualified and trained Doctors, Social workers and Staff members. H.E. the Governor of Gujarat is the President of St. John Ambulance Association, Gujarat State Centre. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat is the Vice- President of this Association in Gujarat.
Hon'ble Health Minister of Gujarat is a Chairman and the Commissioner of Health and Medical Services is a Vice- Chairman of this Association in Gujarat.
The Executive Committee of St. John Ambulance Association, Gujarat State Centre headed is by Hon'ble Minister of Gujarat. The 03 office bearers and other 05 elected members on the Executive Committee are elected through Democratic Way for term of 02 years.
The structure of Executive Committee of the Association is as under:-
1. The Chairman : Hon. Health Minister
2. The Vice- Chairman : The Commissioner of
Health & Medical Services, Gujarat.
3. The Hon. Secretary
4. The Hon. Jt. secretary
5. The Hon. Treasurer
6. 5 elected members on Executive Committee
7. 6 Governor's nominee on Executive Committee
8. 1 Representative from each District Centres.
St. John Ambulance Association, Gujarat State is working in field of humanitarian services with the help of 15 districts centres, 1 Sub-centre, 8 first-aid training centres and under the leadership of Gujarat State Centre at Ahmedabad.
The aim of St. John Ambulance Association is ''to train the maximum persons in First-Aid and Home Nursing and try to reach each and every needy persons either in mass calamities or in any emergency at resident or on road.
Activities:-
The organisation's activities include imparting the first-aid training / home nursing training, providing ambulance van services, organising blood camps carrying out relief works during the calamities etc. Its motto is to carry out humanitarian services whenever they are needed with total devotion and commitment.
