Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh Gujarat State Council
     
 

The Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh, Gujarat State Council is established under clause 2(1) of the Memorandum of Association of the Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh (Indian Leprosy Association) registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (C.A. XXI of 1860, No. S. 390 of 1949-50).

Objectives :

The objectives for which the Council is established is to further, in every possible way, all or any of the aims and objects defined in the Memorandum of Association of the Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh (Indian Council) and particularly the following :-

  1.   The relief and control of leprosy disease and assistance in every way possible in the eradication of leprosy disease from the         State.

  2.   The promotion of research in to the causes and treatment of leprosy disease (Hansen's disease).

  3.   The devising of means whereby the results of such research may be communicated effectively to the Medical Profession and the         public.

  4.   The establishment and maintenance of institutions, such as clinics, hospitals, or dispensaries for the treatment of patients by         upto-date scientific methods, extension of existing institutions or the foundation of new ones wherein persons suffering from         leprosy disease may be segregated or treated.

  5.   The provision of assistance to institutions founded with the humanitarian purpose of providing homes for patients suffering from         leprosy disease who have reached the more hopeless stage of deformities.

The Constitution :

The Governor of Gujarat is the President of the Gujarat State Council of Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh (Indian Leprosy Association) with a General Body and an Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is appointed by the General Body. It is the working instrument of the Sangh and is responsible for carrying our its activities.

a.  Membership of the Sangh : Membership of the Sangh is open to the following:

    i.    Life Members          : Those who pay a subscription of Rs. 500/-

    ii    Ordinary Members   : Those who pay an annual subscription of Rs.
                                       25/-

b. The General Body of the Sangh consists of :-

    i.    President                  : The Governor of the State

    ii.   Vice-President          : The Minister & Dy. Minister in-charge of 
                                                      the Public Health portfolio.

    iii.  Hon. Secretaries       : Two nominated by the Governor of whom one
                                                      shall be a non-official for a period of 3 years

         1.         Deputy Director (Leprosy Division), Gujarat State      Dr. G. R. Talsania

         2.         Dr. K. M. Acharya, HOD, Skin-VD, Medical College, Jamnagar.

   iv.  Hon. Treasurer      : One nominated by the Governor:
                                     Shri Sureshbhai Soni, Managing Trustee, Sahyog Kusht Yagna Trust, Rajendranagar, Dist. Sabarkantha.

     v.   Members             : All life,  ordinary members.
                                     At present 254 Life Members

Collection of Subscription :

          Twenty percent of all life members subscriptions collected by State and District branches are remitted to the Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh (Indian Leprosy Association), Delhi, viz. Central Parent Body.

Sources of Funds of Sangh

1.   Funds allotted by the Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh, Central Branch, New Delhi.

2.   Subscriptions from members

3.   Donations.
4.   Grants from Government, Panchayats or any other bodies.
5.   Funds raised by means of special collection drives, sale of flags, etc.
